POST 8: MOVIES AND/OR SERIES THAT YOU WOULD RECOMMEND

I think one of my favorite ways to spend my free time in a not so productive way is through movies or series, one in particular that marked my life in a certain way is "if i stay", it is a movie based on the book of the same name written by Gayle Forman.

If i stay is directed by R.J. Cultler and tells the story of Mia Hall, a teenage cello prodigy, who at first is anxiously awaiting her acceptance or rejection letter from Juilliart University and at the same time with an internal debate of leaving her town, her friends, her boyfriend and her family if she is accepted to the university. The film begins with an analogy between how Ludwig van Beethoven, after becoming deaf, reinvented his video from instrumentalist to composer and how Mia's family has had to reinvent itself and how they have found their vocation in those changes. Mia grew up with rocker parents, living with the philosophy of carpe diem and always felt like an outsider as she preferred classical music.

One snowy morning, schools close and Mia and her family decide to take a trip to her friends' house, on the car ride they talk and listen to music, a compilation of Beethoven and classic rock from the 80's, suddenly due to the snow a vehicle coming in the opposite direction hits the family car and they are ejected, From that point the film becomes a parallel between what happens in the hospital and the memories that the protagonist has while she is in coma, it takes us with her through the grieving process and the decision whether to stay or decide to die, taking this questioning the protagonist.

This film is one of my favorites, as it talks somehow about how in adolescence one is unmarking from their parents and find their own way, plus the one that in my opinion great soundtrack according to the different scenarios that were presented and the different feelings that wants to express the scene and finally shows how in such specific instants our life takes turns in 180 ° degrees.

"Sometimes you make choices in life, and sometimes choices make you".
